Orion Helios Odin Ruttenberg

Orion was only 14, he was an incredible son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. There was no one who did not feel his gentle and loving spirit. Orion had a brilliant mind, a wonderful sense of humor, and a natural ability to make people laugh. While he could be quiet and reserved at times, he would talk to just about anyone and often left them laughing. When something caught his interest or he had a story to tell, he could open up completely and tell you every detail from beginning to end. Orion was incredibly intelligent and curious about the world around him. When he was little, he dreamed of becoming an engineer, an astronaut, and an inventor. As he grew older, his desire to become an engineer never changed, and neither did his interest in becoming an astronaut. As he entered high school, he was already thinking and planning for college and the future He was an incredible guitar player. He had been taking lessons since he was very little. His guitar teacher Michael was always impressed with his learning ability and his desire to learn classical guitar. He wrote a small piece for his sister 1 month before his passing and it is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. He loved reading, including the entire Harry Potter series. The memories his family will treasure most are the ordinary ones: watching Percy Jackson together, talking about the next season they planned to watch, camping and going outdoors four-wheeling. conversations in the car after school, trying new things, laughing together, and simply having him nearby. These everyday moments have become immeasurably precious. Orion had so much ahead of him—school, mountain bike races, college, a career, adventures, and countless family moments that everyone expected to share with him. His absence leaves a hole that can never be filled, but fourteen years of knowing him, loving him, laughing with him, and watching him grow will remain forever woven into the lives of the people who loved him. We take comfort that Orion is now home with the Father in heaven, he is protected, without fear or sadness and that one day when it is our time, we will join him and once again hold him and be whole. He watches over us always. Orion is so much more than the day he was called home to God. He was a son who was loved and adored, a brother who can never be replaced, and a young man with dreams, of an entire future for himself and his family that was exciting to see and watch unfold before our very eyes. He was here; he is here. He mattered and does matter. He was only 14, but the lives he touched in those 14 years is immeasurable. He loved every day of his life and loved life beyond what any words can describe, and he was loved every day of his life and will be loved every day that follows for all eternity. Orion was touched by the hand of God from the day he was conceived. He is now in the presence of God his savior and protector. We love you Orion. Orion is survived by his parents, Michelle and Steven Ruttenberg; his siblings, James “Andy” and Sandra Altizer, Steven “Kyle” and Amber Ruttenberg, Christopher “Chris” Altizer and his fiancée, Taylor King, Darian Ruttenberg, Marissa Altizer, Caitlynn and Brandon Sparrow, and Kayla Fields; his grandparents, William “Bill” and Mary Ruttenberg; and his nieces and nephews, Hailey Altizer, Micheal Altizer, Willa Altizer, Bentley Altizer, David Ruttenberg, Amelia “Mia” Sparrow, Deus Ruttenberg, and Alec Milton. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Virgil and Mary Frances Cannon and Malinda “Lynn” Ruttenberg. Any donations can be made in Orion's honor to Tri City Prep School Mountain Biking Team.
