Verda Mae Misenheimer

May 29, 1933 - November 25, 2014

Verda Mae Misenheimer, 81, of Gilmer, Texas, passed away peacefully with her family present on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014. She was born on May 29, 1933, in Sacramento, California, to Bernie Murphey and Bessie Evelyn Bell. On June 7, 1953, she married John D. Misenheimer. Verda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who continually strived to demonstrate the love of Christ to her family and friends. Throughout her life she touched many lives through teaching Sunday school for over 20 years to children, being a part of many organizations, making quilts for shut-ins or new babies, and supporting missions home and abroad. She wanted all to know that true happiness is found only through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Verda is survived by her daughter, Lisa Phippen and husband Steven of Gilmer, Texas; daughter-in-law Tina Misenheimer of Gilmer; grandchildren Carlee, Marriah and Celine Phippen of Gilmer; Luke Misenheimer of Gilmer; and Rebekah Diaz of Gilmer; sisters June Dollins and her husband, Ed of Fallbrook, California, and Betty Jo Dorrough of Hemet, California; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John D. Misenheimer on Nov. 11, 1997; son Randy Misenheimer on June 27, 2010; mother Evelyn Pasquel; stepfather Joe Pasquel; and brother-in-law Tom Dorrough. Visitation for Verda, will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley, with services following at 2 p.m. with Pastor Hobby Wiles officiating. Burial will follow at Heritage Memorial Park in Dewey. Donations may be made in memory of Verda to Willow Hills Baptist Church of Prescott, Attn: Missions, 1071 Mogollon Road, Prescott, AZ 86301. Hampton Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
