JULIE TRUSHEL
July 22, 1919 - March 13, 2010
Julie Trushel, 90, a 48-year resident of Prescott, Arizona died Saturday March 13, 2010 after a 12-year struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born the daughter of Charles and Zoe Eastwood on July 22, 1919 in Wheatland, Wyoming. She accomplished an Associates degree from the University of Wyoming and a degree in Fine Art from ASU in 1973 – commuting to classes in Flagstaff and Tempe while raising a family and working full-time. She owned a professional dance studio in the 1940’s. Julie was an accomplished musician, and was an abstract artist in a time when her style of art was new for many in the west. The raw forms, open spaces, and colorful wind-sculpted landscapes inspired her art: watercolors, pastels, metal and wood sculpture. She worked for the City of Prescott from the 1960’s to early 90’s – at the Prescott Public Library and as Director of the Lloyd Roe Adult Center. At the Adult Center she found great fulfillment – it was a place where all of her passions could come together in her work. She retired to meet the challenge of overcoming cancer in the early 1990’s. Julie was preceded in death by her husband John William Trushel in 1998. She is survived by son Peter John Trushel of British Columbia; daughter Nichole Trushell of Prescott, Arizona; grandchildren Elizabeth, Jennifer, Ian and Mara Zoe; great-grandchildren Scott, Alina and Aurin. This beautiful, vibrant, multi-talented lady will be missed very much by all who loved her. The family requests memorial donations be made to: the Highlands Center for Natural History, Arboretum project, and sent to 1375 S. Walker Rd., Prescott 86303.
