Frances "Peggy" Brittingham Miller, 86, died in her home in Prescott, AZ on Tuesday, August 27th. She was born on September 5, 1925 in Hampton, VA to A.W. Brittingham Sr. and Eula Fern Barton Brittingham. She attended Scarritt College in Nashville, TN and received a BA in Religious Education. In December of 1946 she married Harry K. Miller Jr. of Hummelstown, PA. While he earned his Masters and Doctorate she worked to support him. Over the course of their 65-year marriage, they moved 31 times and lived in eight states. During that time she served as the wife-of-the-president at the numerous colleges where her husband worked. She also was "the woman behind the great man" while Harry served as Director of the Prescott Area Habitat for Humanity. She is survived by her loving and beloved husband, her daughter Patricia "Pam" Miller Hogarth and granddaughter Oriana Belliveau Hogenson. She was predeceased by her son, Donald Bruce. She is also survived by numerous "children of the heart" from Kenya, Nigeria, Taiwan and Japan who lived in the Miller home while attending college in the U.S. When she and Harry held their 60th wedding anniversary celebration in Prescott, they were required to hold two separate events to accommodate all of the attendees from around the globe and the county who wanted to express the profound effect the Millers had had on their lives. A celebration of her life will be held at The Center for Spiritual Living in Prescott on Saturday at 11am.
