Eugene "Gene" H. Bohne

January 16, 1925 - October 9, 2014

Eugene "Gene" H. Bohne, age 89, passed peacefully October 9, 2014 with his wife at his side at Good Samaritan, Prescott Valley, from complications of asbestosis. He was born Jan. 16, 1924, in Town of Meeme, Manitowoc City, Wis., to Henry and Ella (Simonsmeier) Bohne. He was the eldest of six. He was confirmed at St. James UCC, in Meeme. As it was in those days, upon completing 8-elementary grades (one room) rual Meeme School, he started working on the family farm. Later he attended a short AG course at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, from 1945-1946. He also completed 16 required semesters of electrical apprenticeship. He was a proud 57-year union member, IBEW Local 494 in Milwaukee. He married Audrey Antoniewicz on Feb. 14, 1966, at Ascension Lutheran Church in California. He settled in Sussex, Wis. Then moved to Newton (Spring Valley) after the purchase of "the old Bohne abandoned dam" and completed rebuilding the structure in 1975. Enjoyed from then on by many in a park-like setting, especially Lutheran Boys and Girls Pioneers, by invitation from camping and fishing trips. Gene and Audrey were dedicated Packer fans and together the couple enjoyed hunting and fishing in many states including Alaska and Canada. He was a NRA member for 45 years. Gene volunteered eight years for the Town of Prescott Valley Board of Appeals and at Yavapai College Performance Hall. Survivors include his brother, Henry (Arlene) of Washington, sister Dorothy (William) Mueller of Manitowoc Wis.; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Laverne Zink and Marie Leonhard; brother Donald; brothers-in-law Howard Zink, Gerald Leonhard, Gene Ancel; sisters-in-law Judy Bohne, Virginia Ancel, and Dolores Tojek. A memorial service with will be at 11 a.m. on Oct. 16, 2014, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3300 N. Navajo Drive, Prescott Valley, Ariz. Graveside inurnment services at columbarium at First Lutheran Memorial Gardens in Prescott. Later inurnment service at St. James UCC cemetery in Newton, Wis., will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 1, 2014. Memorials appreciated for Christ Lutheran Church sound system or for tuition assistance at Luther Prep School in Watertown, Wis. Arrangements entrusted to Sunrise Funeral Home,
