Donald Malek

Donald G. Malek, 84, of Dewey, AZ, passed away April 6, 2009 at the Banner Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, following a stroke. Don was born and raised in Osceola, NE to George and Phoebe Malek. Don served as a B-24 bomber mechanic in the 423rd Army Air Force during WWII. He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He was married to JoAnn Spain of Omaha, NE. He was employed by Gates Rubber Co. (Denver, CO) for over 25 years until his retirement. Don moved to his current home in Dewey in 1994. He is a member of the First Southern Baptist Church (Prescott Valley, AZ), where he has enjoyed the fellowship of his church family for many years. Don’s passing was preceded by his brother Richard (who is survived by wife: Ruth). Don is survived by his sister Elaine (Munster, IN) and by his four children: son Michael (wife: Diane) of Firestone, CO, daughters Mary of Broomfield, CO, Susan of Prescott Valley, AZ., and Julie (husband: Rick) of Cary, NC., and his five grandchildren: Naomi and Melinda, of Firestone,CO; Sarah of Prescott Valley, AZ.; and Christianna and Eric of Cary, NC. A viewing for friends will be held from 1:00 pm with a memorial service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Prescott Valley. His internment (for immediate family) will held in Osceola, NE. Don was a father and grandfather who was deeply loved by his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
