Maynard Wendlandt

Maynard Wendlandt,81, of Prescott Valley, AZ, peacefully passed away early on July 31, 2010 in Prescott, Arizona, after a long a lengthy battle with Lewy Body Disease. Maynard was born July 6, 1929 in Brownton, Minnesota to now deceased parents, Christ and Laura Wendlandt. Maynard lived much of his life in Hutchinson, MN and Jackson, MN working a variety of jobs and trades. Some of these include managing grocery stores, making candy, cutting and baling hay, as well as, a range of truck driving and delivery services. Maynard retired to Prescott Valley, AZ, July 1989. During his retirement he enjoyed working at Safeway and his morning coffee visits to the “Donut Hole”. Outside of these, his favorite past times were taking care of his vegetable garden, rose bushes and fruit trees, creating wooden treasures with his tools, plus expanding his variety of John Deer Tractor memorabilia. Maynard’s best memories are of times spent with friends and family, especially deer hunting in Wyoming. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Berenice, daughters, Patty Eddy and Barb Brouwer, daughter-in-law, Cheryl, as well as, brothers, Raymond, Lester, Leonard “Pete”, Jerald and sister, Corrine. Maynard is survived by wife, Lorraine of 48 years. He has four surviving children, daughters, Chris (Dan) Hodnefield of Lakefield, MN, Cindy (Bill Eder) Wendlandt of Wanamingo, MN, and Carol (Robert) Lettieri, of Glendale, AZ, and son, Mark of New Trier, MN. 10 grandchildren, Ann, John, Mandy, Keith, Kyle, Nicholas, Matthew, Kelly, Kelsea and Robert and 5 great-grandchildren, Justice, Tia, Colby, Samantha , and Hannah. He has 3 surviving siblings in Minnesota, Ester Opitz, Kenneth Wendlandt and Janet Alsleben . Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday August 3, 2010 at Sunrise Funeral Home 8167 E. HWY 69 Prescott Valley, with a Celebration of Life Service at 10:30 AM Wednesday August 4, 2010 at the funeral Home. The family would like to thank Prescott Samaritan Nursing Home for the loving care that they were able to provide Maynard in his last years.
